Job summary

Geoprobe Systems® in Salina, KS seeks a Mechanical Engineering student to support development projects by designing components and producing prototypes. You will collaborate with staff engineers, layout 3D models in SolidWorks, and help fabricate and test the final products.

You will assist in field testing with Geoprobe rigs, contributing to feasibility studies and solution options while applying coursework knowledge in a real-world setting.

What you will do

• 
  Project or new part design: Projects related to aiding in development projects and the making of components for that project
  
  
  
  • Work with staff engineers to review overall objectives of a project or parts
  
  
  • Determine what the final design needs to accomplish
  
  
  
  


• 
  Design layout: Use SolidWorks to layout a 3D model of the project or parts
  
  
  
  • Utilize time in the shop to develop a 3D model out of available materials
  
  
  
  


• 
  Fabricate or machine production: Alongside team members in engineering, machine, and fabrication departments, build and test the final product
  
  
  
  • Additionally, make repairs to parts/machines/fixtures that need improvement
  
  
  
  


• 
  Field Testing: Expect in ground testing using Geoprobe® rigs. New concepts or changes require field testing.
