Job summary

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in regionally accredited college/university program.
• Must have completed sophomore year by internship start date.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Strong academic standing expected.
• Engineering program enrollment required.
• Excellent technical, verbal, written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing process support and documentation.
• Analyze and design manufacturing processes.
• Communicate analytic results in reports (oral/written).
• Study and analyze plant assembly processes.
• Develop and document plant assembly processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (quality, line balance, safety, efficiency).
• Be flexible to address special projects as needed.

Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label charcoal, manufactured fire logs, fire building products, matches and toothpicks. In addition, the Company also manufactures railroad cross ties, which strengthens our relationship with our suppliers in the charcoal business. We offer a full suite of grilling products including charcoal briquettes, all-natural lump charcoal, fire starters along with the Pine Mountain fire building brand, the Diamond brand, and the Specialty Wood Products brand.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern will have an opportunity to learn and/or use basic engineering and lean manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts. Under close supervision and following specific detailed instructions, the intern performs entry level manufacturing engineering assignments such as authoring work instructions using drawings and specifications and/or any special projects as directed. Responsibilities include both general and specialized assignments that provide training and work experience of a developmental nature.

Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university program leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other science or technology related major and have completed the sophomore year of study by the start date of the internship. Good academic standing expected.

• Strong MS Office skills required. Specifically: Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.

• Working knowledge of all Microsoft Software application.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Be a self-starter and have the ability to work with little direction.
• Solid academic track record of accomplishment.
