Job summary

Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is seeking an Engineering Intern to learn and apply basic engineering and lean manufacturing concepts under close supervision. You will perform entry-level manufacturing engineering tasks, author work instructions from drawings and specifications, and support special projects as directed.

You will be enrolled in an accredited college program in engineering, with sophomore standing or higher, and demonstrate strong comprehension of MS Office and analytical reporting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in regionally accredited program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace or related engineering field and have completed sophomore year.
• Maintain good academic standing throughout internship.
• Must be enrolled in an Engineering program.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to document and present results.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing process support and assist in process analysis and design.
• Record and report analytic results in formal documents based on drawings and specifications.
• Study and analyze plant assembly processes and develop documented improvements.
• Assist in continuous improvement efforts focusing on quality, line balance, safety/ergonomics and efficiency.

Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label charcoal, manufactured fire logs, fire building products, matches and toothpicks. In addition, the Company also manufactures railroad cross ties, which strengthens our relationship with our suppliers in the charcoal business. We offer a full suite of grilling products including charcoal briquettes, all-natural lump charcoal, fire starters along with the Pine Mountain fire building brand, the Diamond brand, and the Specialty Wood Products brand.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern will have an opportunity to learn and/or use basic engineering and lean manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts. Under close supervision and following specific detailed instructions, the intern performs entry level manufacturing engineering assignments such as authoring work instructions using drawings and specifications and/or any special projects as directed. Responsibilities include both general and specialized assignments that provide training and work experience of a developmental nature.

Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university program leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other science or technology related major and have completed the sophomore year of study by the start date of the internship. Good academic standing expected.

• Proven problem-solving skills are required.
• Knowledge of industrial tools, hand tools and power tools is preferred.
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment is preferred.
• Must be flexible to work portions of day and evening shift.
• Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Strong MS Office skills required. Specifically: Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of all Microsoft Software application.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Be a self-starter and have the ability to work with little direction.
• Solid academic track record of accomplishment.
