Job summary

CHS Inc. is seeking an Engineer Intern at our Rochelle, IL ethanol facility. You will provide technical support to achieve equipment reliability while meeting safety, environmental, and economic guidelines.

The role involves design, data analysis, and project support under supervision of Process Engineers. You must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an ABET-accredited engineering program and able to work 40 hours per week on site in Rochelle, IL, with PPE and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Pursuing ABET-accredited four-year engineering program (Mechanical, Agriculture, Electrical, Chemical, or Bio-Chemical).
• Willingness to work onsite 40 hours per week in Rochelle, IL and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to ethanol facility for equipment reliability and performance.
• Assist in mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, and root-cause failure analysis.
• Assist Process Engineers to design and install new projects and improvements.
• Identify safety, health and environmental issues and report recommendations.
• Contribute to equipment design, specifications, and project reports.

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Ethanol facility in Rochelle, IL. We are looking for an Engineer Intern to provide technical support assistance to the ethanol facility in order to achieve optimal performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assistance to ethanol facility to achieve equipment reliability and performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines.
• May participate in a variety of different activities including mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, equipment repair plan development, materials selection, root cause failure analysis, and troubleshoot equipment performance and develop recommendations for maintenance.
• Work with Process Engineers to design and install new projects and other plant improvements.
• Recognize and report and/or suggest recommendations regarding safety, health and environmental issues that impact operations and personnel.
• Projects may include equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques in particular areas of assignments.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

• Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical, Agriculture, Electrical, Chemical, or Bio-Chemical engineering program at an ABET accredited four-year college/university.

Additional Qualifications

• Previous internship experience in the ethanol oilseed industries.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week, onsite in Rochelle, IL with reliable transportation.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
