Job summary

CHS Inc. invites engineering interns to support our ethanol facility in Rochelle, IL. You’ll assist in achieving optimal equipment reliability while upholding safety and environmental guidelines. Detail orientation and strong written/verbal communication are essential for success.

You’ll collaborate with process engineers, participate in design and maintenance projects, and gain exposure to multi-disciplinary plant operations within a global agri-business.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a junior or senior in mechanical, agriculture, electrical, chemical, or bio-chemical engineering (ABET-accredited four-year program).
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week onsite in Rochelle, IL.
• Comfort wearing PPE including respirators and safety gear.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assistance to ethanol facility to achieve equipment reliability and performance while meeting safety, environmental, and economic guidelines.
• Participate in mechanical design, inspection data analysis, fault analysis, and maintenance planning; evaluate equipment performance and make improvement recommendations.
• Work with Process Engineers to design and install new projects and other plant improvements.
• Identify and report safety, health and environmental issues impacting operations and personnel.
• Projects may include equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, and research investigations.

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Ethanol facility in Ananawan, IL. We are looking for an Engineering Intern to provide technical support assistance to the ethanol facility in order to achieve optimal performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assistance to ethanol facility to achieve equipment reliability and performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines.
• May participate in a variety of different activities including mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, equipment repair plan development, materials selection, root cause failure analysis, and troubleshoot equipment performance and develop recommendations for maintenance.
• Work with Process Engineers to design and install new projects and other plant improvements.
• Recognize and report and/or suggest recommendations regarding safety, health and environmental issues that impact operations and personnel.
• Projects may include equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques in particular areas of assignments.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

• Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical, Agriculture, Electrical, Chemical, or Bio-Chemical engineering program at an ABET accredited four-year college/university.

Additional Qualifications

• Previous internship experience in the ethanol oilseed industries.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week, onsite in Rochelle, IL with reliable transportation.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
