DeKalb Health in Flushing, NY sponsors an Engineering Intern position to support the New Product Development team with product design, testing, and data-driven validation. You will build and test prototypes, analyze results in Excel, and create SolidWorks models and drawings for ongoing projects.

You'll gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, electrical testing, and manufacturing processes, while contributing to safe lab operations and engineering documentation under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Support new product development through assembly, testing, and evaluation of prototypes and components.
  • Collect, analyze, and present engineering test data using Excel and graphical reporting tools.
  • Create and modify 3D component models and drawings in SolidWorks for product development.
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Contribute to safe and efficient operation of laboratory testing involving electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage assigned projects.
  • Gain exposure to mechanical design, electrical testing, product validation, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation.

The Engineering Intern will play a key role in supporting the New Product Development team by assisting with product design, testing, and validation activities. This position contributes directly to the development and improvement of innovative heating and thermal processing solutions by gathering critical test data, creating engineering models, and helping transform concepts into manufacturable products.

Key Impact Areas:

  • Support new product development initiatives through hands-on assembly, testing, and evaluation of prototypes and components.
  • Collect, analyze, and present engineering test data using Excel and graphical reporting tools to assist engineering decision-making.
  • Create and modify 3D component models and drawings in SolidWorks to support product development and design improvements.
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and identifying opportunities for product and process enhancements.
  • Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of laboratory testing activities involving electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Apply creative thinking and technical knowledge to help solve engineering challenges and improve product performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and manage assigned projects.
  • Gain practical exposure to mechanical design, electrical testing, product validation, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation.
