Job summary

Aquafil Usa is seeking a student intern to support engineering projects at AQUS- 1 Aquafil Drive, Cartersville, GA. The role emphasizes CAD-based design, system optimization for industrial use, and adherence to environmental policies.

You will assist with measurements, calculations, and documentation while learning practical plant operations. Ideal candidates are 2nd–4th year engineering students with a minimum 3.2 GPA, proficient in spreadsheets, and familiar with AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Computer literate with excellent spreadsheet skills.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and CAD-based workflows.
• 3.2 GPA minimum in engineering coursework.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD to verify dimensions in drawings (lengths, valve positions, pipe diameters).
• Design and optimize industrial systems, HVAC layouts and oil heating systems with CAD tools.
• Perform calculations (power, fluid flow) to set installation standards and guidelines.
• Prepare PO requests and manage project budgets and digital folders.
• Identify needed machine parts and create supporting part/wire spreadsheets.
• Follow Aquafil Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management System policies.

OVERALL GOALS

Support the implement improvement or expansion projects on-time and on-budget with minimal supervision.

Identify opportunities for improvement by working with Plant and Engineering Personnel.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Utilize physical measurement devices to make sure dimensions in CAD drawings are accurate, including lengths, valve positions, pipe diameters, etc.
• Design and optimize systems intended for industrial purposes, such as the layout of HVAC systems and oil heating systems, utilizing CAD software
• Perform calculations (power, fluid flow through a pipe, etc) to establish installation standards.
• Put in purchase order (PO) requests while making sure projects stay within budget and organize digital engineering folders.
• Identify and create spreadsheets for needed machine parts and wires.
• Be aware of Aquafil's Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management Systems Policy (see supervisor if further explanation is needed).

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITY

• Computer literate, excellent spreadsheet skills, and proficient in AutoCAD.
• Advanced problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• 2nd , 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• At least a 3.2 GPA
