Job summary

HNTB is seeking a Group Director to lead a multi-discipline design and delivery group, overseeing Roadway, Drainage, and Structures departments within the Tallahassee/Tampa office. You will manage budgets, staffing, and quality control, while aligning with the firm’s strategic sales and planning approaches.

The role requires a strong background in engineering leadership, with significant supervisory experience, and a track record of delivering high-quality infrastructure projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience including 4 years of supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree preferred (as per company listing).

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises the development and management of operating budgets for the departments within the Group.
• Oversees department activities, establish priorities and assign staff to projects; collaborate with other groups for work-sharing.
• Drives strategic plan implementation and SSA process on project pursuits and markets; develop planning strategies.
• Drives contracting (SCA) processes including scope, work plan and fee reviews for contracting activities.
• Drives SDA process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews to ensure quality work on time to client.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities including client discovery, proposals, interviews, win-to-work activities.
• Maintain client contacts to ensure satisfaction; lead sales and marketing efforts for department’s growth.
• Develop and execute office strategic plan; participate in Office Leadership Team.
• Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff; support managers with performance and compensation plans.
• Manage project management activities (scope, schedule, budget, quality) and perform technical tasks (design, reports, specs).
• Lead group with 25–40+ employees (direct/indirect supervision).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
