Job summary

Marquette University in Milwaukee seeks an Engineering Grant Development Manager to advance externally funded research by partnering with faculty to identify funding opportunities, develop proposal plans, and prepare competitive proposals to federal, foundation, industry sponsors.

The role provides grantsmanship consultation, editing of faculty-generated proposals, development of supporting documents, and coordination of complex multidisciplinary submissions across institutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 4-5 years related experience in proposal development or research administration preferred.
• Exceptional written communication and editing skills.
• Ability to coordinate multi-investigator, multi-institution proposals.

Responsibilities

• Faculty Proposal Development, Editing, and Grantsmanship: assist in developing competitive proposals, organize content, and prepare supporting documents.
• Proactive Faculty Research Development and Proposal Planning: identify funding opportunities and plan proposals with faculty each semester.
• Large and Collaborative Proposal Coordination: manage timelines, components, and submission checklists for multi-institution proposals.
• Pre-Award Budget and Administrative Coordination: prepare budget worksheets; coordinate with ORSP for institutional budgets and documentation.
• Funding Opportunities and Sponsor Strategy: identify funding opportunities and communicate sponsor priorities to faculty.
• Sponsored-Research Effort Coordination: liaise with faculty, post-award personnel, and business offices on effort and salary recovery.
