Job summary

City of Garland is seeking a GIS Specialist to create, maintain, and QA/QC municipal GIS datasets including water, sewer, and streets. You will review engineering plans, record drawings, and easements to ensure accuracy and consistency across GIS layers.

The role supports CIP projects and coordinates with multiple City departments, consultants, and the public. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and CAD/GIS workflows is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or closely related field.
• Two years of related GIS experience in municipal/engineering GIS.
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, edit, and QA/QC of GIS datasets for water, sewer, drainage, streets, and infrastructure.
• Review engineering plans, CAD files, plats, and easements to update GIS features.
• Maintain CIP-related GIS data and project boundaries, numbers, and updates.
• Research historical records to support ERR and public information requests.
• Coordinate data updates with multiple City departments and external stakeholders.
• Develop GIS products and maps for staff, management, and public use.
• Support ArcGIS Enterprise/Online content and related GIS workflows.
• Work with CAD/GIS tools to georeference and integrate information.
