Berkeley County (SC) Government is seeking an Engineering Technician to perform construction observation for conformance with plans, post-construction inspections of stormwater facilities, and assist in plan development for in-house projects. The role requires professional interaction with developers, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Civil engineering or related field; and
• Four (4) years of related technical experience;
• Or equivalent combination of experience, training, or advanced education may be accepted;
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record;

Responsibilities

• Performs interim, final and warranty inspections on site work, roadways and stormwater systems for compliance with regulations, standards and approved plans.
• May assist in surveys for roadway and storm drainage feasibility.
• Independently prepares inspection reports for distribution to developers, contractors and other divisions.
• Assists in the preparation of maps, databases and plans.
• Reviews as-built drawings for conformance with design plans and consistency with construction observations and reports.
• Interacts with contractors, consultants, developers, utilities, regulatory agency representatives and the general public.
• Prepares, organizes and maintains engineering/construction field and office data, reports and systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
