Job summary

The National Park Service is seeking an Engineering Equipment Operator to operate gasoline- or diesel-powered heavy equipment within park boundaries. You will use road graders, tractors with bulldozer excavator attachments, and related machinery to prepare and maintain park infrastructure on rugged terrain.

You will also perform pre-trip safety inspections, load and transport equipment to project sites, and assist with placing pipes, hydrants, and other large objects as part of utility and road

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy gasoline or diesel-powered engineering equipment.
• Ability to operate on mountainous or steep terrain to excavation, backfill, grade or level earth.
• Pre-trip safety inspections and routine maintenance are required.

Job description

You will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator with National Park Service. This position serves as an Engineering Equipment Operator and operates gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities

As an Engineering Equipment Operator, you will perform the following duties: Operates heavy gasoline or diesel-powered engineering equipment such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer excavators, etc. Operates equipment on mountainous or steep terrain to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on projects. Operates a boom for placing pipe, hydrants, and other large objects in utility and road maintenance operations throughout the park unit.

Operates road graders to grade and ditch and plow or clear debris and brush Loads, secures, and drives equipment to and from project sites. Performs pre-trip safety inspections on engineering equipment.

Requirements & Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
