Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking a detail‑oriented Design Drafter / Engineering Designer in California to support planning, design, and permitting of gas and electric utility projects. You will prepare Caltrans Encroachment Permit exhibits and technical documentation, developing DSDSs and EPEs with clear engineering justifications.

The role collaborates with engineers, estimators, project managers, and regulatory agencies to deliver accurate, well‑argued packages that facilitate timely permit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 2+ years’ experience in engineering design, drafting, or related discipline with utility exposure.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and ability to interpret engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering exhibits and plan sheets for Caltrans Encroachment Permit applications.
• Research and interpret Caltrans design standards, policies, and utility requirements.
• Develop Design Standard Decision Documents (DSDDs) that justify deviations from standards.
• Prepare Encroachment Policy Exceptions (EPEs) with analyses and rationale.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and clients to gather project information.
• Produce high-quality engineering drawings using AutoCAD or CAD software.
• Ensure exhibits comply with Caltrans standards and project criteria.
• Revise documents based on agency review comments.
• Maintain organized project files throughout permitting.
