Job summary

General Atomics seeks an Engineering Director to lead planning, management, and execution of major engineering programs across multiple disciplines. You will direct projects from inception to completion, partnering with leadership to set technical, schedule, quality, and financial objectives.

The role requires extensive engineering experience, a strong track record in management, and the ability to recruit and develop top talent while driving proposals, budgets, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of progressively complex engineering experience, including at least nine years in management.

Responsibilities

• Direct all phases of engineering projects from inception through delivery and ensure quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term objectives for assigned engineering organizations.
• Establish design concepts, technical criteria, and engineering strategies for product research, development, testing, integration, and production.
• Serve as the primary engineering contact for assigned programs and communicate matters to senior management.
• Collaborate on proposals, business plans, statements of work, specifications, operating budgets, and contracts.
• Lead recruitment, development, retention, and performance of management, professional, and technical personnel.
• Promote technical excellence and ensure adequate talent and resources.
• Lead program and engineering reviews addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, and risk.
• Identify complex engineering and organizational issues and drive effective solutions and resource reallocation.
