Job summary

Gleason is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering department, align resources with customer requirements, and drive project schedules and quality. The role requires extensive experience in engineering design, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Sales.

The incumbent will mentor engineers, oversee design activities, and act as a key decision-maker for non-conforming products, ensuring compliance with safety and product standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of experience in Engineering Design or Checking, preferably with gauges, inspection systems, fixtures, and machine design.
• Strong leadership, organizational, coordination, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain oversight of all engineering design activities and engineering change orders.
• Direct engineering priorities and resources to ensure designs meet customer specifications, project schedules, and budget requirements.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Purchasing and Manufacturing to support scheduling and on-time project execution.
• Collaborate with customers, Sales, Manufacturing, and other functions to ensure requirements are incorporated into designs and delivered per schedule.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering employees to strengthen departmental capabilities.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Purchasing to support workflow planning and operational efficiency.
• Serve as Disposition Authority for Non-Conforming Products as delegated by the Operations Manager.
