Job summary

dunnhumby is seeking an Engineering Director to lead sub-domain teams and drive engineering excellence. You will shape the technical roadmap, collaborate with product and design, and ensure delivery of high-quality software in an agile environment.

Responsibilities include coaching managers, hiring, budgeting, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions using C# .NET Core, React, and cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex software.
• Strong collaboration with product, design and commercial teams.
• Proven track record in building scalable, secure systems and driving OKRs.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering function across a product sub-domain and drive cross-cutting initiatives.
• Co-own and deliver sub-domain OKRs with product and design partners.
• Manage multiple squads to ensure high quality, secure software in Agile settings.
• Oversee architecture discussions, solution design and stakeholder updates.
• Define and execute the engineering roadmap, including cloud migration and shift-left practices.
• Own budgeting, hiring plans and team development, including performance reviews.
• Hands-on coding up to 20–40% depending on team maturity.
• Partner with product, commercial, UX and client teams to align priorities.
• Collaborate with architecture and principal engineers to drive best practices.
