Job summary

Docplanner is seeking an Engineering Director to lead AI-powered healthcare experiences across Marketplace, Patient Engagement and Payments. You’ll lead around 75 engineers and align three areas into one connected, intelligent patient journey.

In a regulated domain, you’ll shape how we build, test, and ship AI-assisted features from discovery to delivery, partnering with Product, Design and Data to improve speed, quality and trust.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-team engineering organisations through managers.
• Daily, practical fluency with AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and clear judgment about its strengths, limits and risks.
• A product mindset: connect engineering strategy to customer outcomes and business results, and you care whether what you ship gets used.
• Technical depth across architecture, delivery, reliability and security.
• Strong partnership skills with Product, Design, Data and business leaders.
• Experience with marketplaces and complex, high-stakes products where reliability, privacy and security matter.

Responsibilities

• Set the direction. Own the engineering strategy and roadmap across all three areas.
• Build product builders. Build a strong engineering team that thinks in terms of value.
• Turn AI into a product. Work with Product and Design from discovery through delivery to bring AI into search, booking, engagement, continuity of care and payments.
• Continue rewiring how engineering works. Set standards for checking AI output and protecting quality, security and privacy.
• Own the architecture. Guide design and engineering standards across the portfolio, balancing pace with reliability, security, privacy and scale.
• Remove friction at its source. Improve how ideas become impact with clear priorities and measurable delivery.
• Shape company-wide tech. Align with engineering peers on shared platforms and help make technology decisions across Docplanner.
