Job summary

AstraZeneca plc is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to direct the eCOA product area across a multi-squad team. You will spend substantial time coding, reviewing, and shaping architecture while mentoring engineers and aligning technical delivery with product strategy.

You will champion AI-enabled development, ensure regulatory alignment, and collaborate with Product Owners to plan scalable, high-quality releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on with code.
• Strong proficiency in React/React Native, Node.js/Java, AWS.
• Experience making architectural decisions across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools in daily coding.

Responsibilities

• Regularly review pull requests and enforce quality standards across squads.
• Own architectural decisions for the eCOA platform, including API design and data models.
• Write production code for foundational components to accelerate delivery.
• Coach engineers through pairing on complex problems and AI tooling adoption.
• Drive AI-assisted development tools adoption and define team conventions for AI code generation and testing.
• Define and enforce testing strategies, CI/CD health, observability, and deployment practices.
• Partner with Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable, compliant technical plans.
