Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Engineering Designer – Level 3/4 in Chandler, AZ for the Launch Vehicles unit. You will create detailed drawing packages, verify models, and ensure designs meet aerospace standards while coordinating with multiple engineering and manufacturing teams.

The role requires GD&T proficiency, weld design experience, and proficiency with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter, with DoD Secret clearance eligibility. On-site at Chandler, with relocation as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s with 3+ years; or PhD with 1+ year; or High School + 9 years education/experience.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance.
• Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Must be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1.
• Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC milling and lathe operations.
• Must be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter.

Responsibilities

• Create drawing/design packages with proper content and to standards.
• Review designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication.
• Review tolerance analysis, hardware selection, and fitment on assembly prints.
• Resolve interpretation issues on drawings.
• Verify 3D models in manufacturing using Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter.
• Liaise with engineering, Manufacturing and Quality.
