Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking an on-site Design/Drafting specialist in Staunton, VA to create engineering documentation and supporting drawings. You will translate concepts into manufacturing docs and collaborate with Marketing/Sales on custom modifications to meet weekly production schedules.

The role requires 2+ years of design experience, knowledge of SolidWorks and DraftSight, and the ability to travel up to 15%. Strong communication skills are essential for cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical degree in design/drafting or equivalent experience.
• Associates degree in design/drafting acceptable.
• 2+ years of related design experience.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering documentation, including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards.
• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
• Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules.
• Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
• Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals.
• Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin Products.
• Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams.
• Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of materials systems and product structuring logic.

• Create engineering documentation, including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
• Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
• Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills

Your Qualifications:

• Vocational or Technical Degree in Design/Drafting or Equivalent Experience or Associates Degree in Design/Drafting
• 2+ years of experience of related design work
• Understanding of AMSE Y14.5 Desing and drafting standards Advance Understanding
• Sheet metal design and/or HVAC products
• Strong Communication skills - Written and verbal
• Experience with Excel - moderate to high level (preferred)
• Solidworks Mechanical Basic Understanding
• Draft Sight Basic Understanding
• Flexible to travel 10 to 15%
• Solidworks electrical (Optional Skill)

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $28.61 - $47.04 USD per hour in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
