Job summary

Stantec in Albany, NY seeks a mechanical drafting professional to work with design engineers, producing drawings from sketches and existing drawings, and setting up new Revit MEP projects.

You will develop construction documentation and models within a BIM team, support field service, and participate in coordination meetings; a two-year technical degree and two years of drafting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical or associate's degree in CAD/Construction Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience in mechanical drafting.
• Knowledge of CAD and BIM platforms (including Revit).
• Exposure to field work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with design engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings and electronic images.
• Design drawings based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers.
• Set up new Revit MEP projects based on existing project templates.
• Develop construction documentation under supervision of assigned engineering, design, and BIM staff utilizing primarily Revit MEP.
• Develop construction models in Revit MEP as part of a BIM team.
• Create detailed field installation drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Work from both customer and firm drawings.
• Perform file management functions such as posting models, downloading model updates, managing links, and historic versioning. CAD and Revit drafting.
• Provide technical support for existing projects and field service.
• Attend coordination meetings, communicate with other trades, and create/extract reports as requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Demonstrated knowledge or interest on MEP systems and their installation, with an emphasis on Mechanical installations preferred.
• Must possess an understanding of drawing and modeling organization, detail, and precision.
• Positive attitude and a sense of teamwork.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Revit MEP.

Education and Experience

Two-year technical or associate's degree in Computer Aided Drafting/Construction Technology, Mechanical Technology, or similar with knowledge of current CAD and BIM platforms; or an equivalent combination of education and Mechanical trade experience.

Minimum two years of experience in mechanical drafting.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
