The New Bedford Public Schools District is seeking an innovative Engineering & Design Teacher at Roosevelt Middle School in New Bedford, MA. The role focuses on guiding students through design-based learning, investigating, imagining, creating, testing and refining solutions.

The ideal candidate will promote an inclusive curriculum, collaborate with colleagues, and support all learners including English Language Learners and students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology-related field or communications.
• Certification or ability to become certified as a technology teacher.
• Knowledge of research methods and technology applications.
• Strong grounding in Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science for middle school.

Responsibilities

• Design curriculum and lessons that connect across content areas for project-based learning.
• Teach introduction to the research process and support writing, noting sources and avoiding plagiarism.
• Engage students in the engineering and design process to deepen science understanding.
• Create a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to meet diverse student needs.
• Assess students and analyze data to determine next steps.
• Support all learners including English learners and students with special needs.
