Job summary

Designer Group in Athens is seeking a Design Manager to lead a Data Centre project. You’ll be the senior authority across design, preconstruction and delivery, guiding engineering decisions, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, and aligned to programme and commercial objectives.

You’ll work closely with project teams, supply chain and clients to ensure safe system integration, oversee testing and commissioning, and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous improvement of DG design

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience in an M&E contractor environment.
• Strong design and site delivery background (critical).
• Proven history managing design consultants and subcontractors.
• Deep knowledge of electrical systems and BS7671 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design strategy from tender through to commissioning.
• Support preconstruction and estimation with value engineering and buildability input.
• Manage and challenge external design consultants and supply chain partners.
• Ensure design delivery aligns with programme, cost and technical requirements.
• Review technical submissions, drawings and BIM models.

The Role

We’re hiring a Design Manager to work on a Data Centre Project in Athens

This is not a coordination role. You’ll be the senior authority across design, preconstruction and delivery, influencing how projects are engineered, built and commissioned.

You’ll work closely with project teams, supply chain and clients to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and aligned to programme and commercial objectives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Lead design strategy from tender through to commissioning
• Support preconstruction and estimation with value engineering and buildability input
• Manage and challenge external design consultants and supply chain partners
• Ensure design delivery aligns with programme, cost and technical requirements
• Review technical submissions, drawings and BIM models
• Provide on-site engineering support across project lifecycleOversee testing, commissioning and quality assurance processes
• Ensure compliance with BS7671, NICEIC and DG engineering standards
• Work alongside SAP for LV/HV systems and ensure safe system integration
• Support development of junior and graduate engineers
• Contribute to continuous improvement of DG design and QA processes

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in engineering within an M&E contractor environment
• Strong background across design and site delivery (critical)
• Proven experience managing design consultants and subcontractors
• Deep understanding of electrical systems, standards and compliance (BS7671, 18th Edition)
• Experience across commercial, infrastructure or mission-critical projects
• Strong technical judgement with a practical, buildable mindset
• Ability to influence stakeholders across design, commercial and delivery teams
