Job summary

Aquifer is looking for a Development Manager in New Hampshire to lead engineering capacity, delivery commitments, and technical execution quality across our development pods. You will directly manage engineers, pod tech leads, and a technical architect, with full people-management responsibility.

You will own release reliability and the delivery/quality dimensions of engineering performance, partnering with product and tech leadership to improve velocity and product sustainability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing engineering teams, engineering managers, or senior individual contributors.
• Track record of owning delivery commitments and release quality for a live SaaS product.
• Experience managing distributed or multi-site engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate the technical judgment and output of senior or staff-level engineers.
• Comfortable setting and enforcing guardrails for AI-assisted software development.
• Experience evaluating a technical architect against defined deliverables is a plus.
• Working familiarity with Jira/Confluence.

• Own engineering capacity planning and translate roadmap commitments into delivery plans.
• Own release reliability and production quality across pods.

• Manage hiring, performance, and career development for the team.
• Provide meaningful roles and assignments through capability mapping.
• Lead planning at every cadence and participate in engineering strategy discussions.
• Collaborate with product management to align roadmap with technical execution.
• Support Rails-based product growth with attention to sustainability and cost.
• Drive AI development best practices to increase velocity and quality.
