Job summary

Arthrex, Inc. is seeking a student engineer to support the suture prototyping team in Ave Maria, FL (AMIE) as a co-op from January 2027 to June 2027.

You will help develop and prototype sutures using manufacturing techniques and collaborate with experienced engineers to transform ideas into functional prototypes. The role involves testing, data analysis, process optimization, and contributing to solutions that improve product performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree; Mechanical or Biomedical preferred.
• Experience with prototyping and 3D printing preferred.
• Experience with data analysis tools preferred.
• Experience with technical writing preferred.

Responsibilities

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing an engineering degree to support the suture prototyping team in Ave Maria, FL (AMIE). As a co-op, you will play a key role in the development suture prototypes, as well as transform ideas into functional prototypes. Working in a dynamic, hands-on environment, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to develop and prototype sutures using manufacturing techniques. You will support prototype development activities through testing, data analysis, and process optimization while contributing to solutions that improve product performance and manufacturability. This co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To support the development and prototyping of innovative suture technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineers and members of the prototype team.
• Develop mechanical fixtures relating to sutures.
• Run data analysis and utilize data to improve processes.
• Contribute ideas in brainstorming sessions.
• Develop and support suture/textile prototypes.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree or a recent graduate within the last six months. Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering degree preferred.
  (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
• Experience with prototyping and 3D printing preferred.
• Experience with data analysis tools preferred.
• Experience with technical writing preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues.
• Knowledge of DOE (design of experiments) practices preferred.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
