Job summary

Precision Castparts in Mentor, Ohio is seeking a motivated co-op student pursuing a bachelor’s in Materials, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. You will apply classroom fundamentals to hands-on projects in equipment and facilities design and improvement within our PCC engineering teams.

You’ll participate in project teams, attend departmental meetings, and complete assigned maintenance documentation, with responsibilities growing as you contribute to energy conservation, equipment upgrades,

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Proficiency with Excel, Office and SolidWorks; strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles learned in school to hands-on activities in equipment and facilities design and improvement.
• Contribute to performance goals with progressive responsibility in facilities engineering.
• Identify and recommend equipment improvements for projects.
• Attend departmental meetings and training sessions.

Position Summary

The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their functional engineering discipline. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization.

• The student will apply principles that he or she has learned in school to hands-on situations, such as equipment and facilities design and improvement.
• The student will be responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility in facilities engineering throughout his/her co-op experience.
• Will identify and recommend equipment improvements for specified projects.
• Student will attend regular departmental meeting.
• Student will attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
• Will perform or review procedures and documentation for existing maintenance tasks.
• Will take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
• Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze improvements and new equipment or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team.
• Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new equipment development, upgrades, and energy conservation opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of related engineering discipline functional and technical skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and SolidWorks.
• Good writing skills and interpersonal skills

Education And/Or Experience Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Preferred grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Co-op will spend 50%-60% of their time in the manufacturing plant.
• Minimal travel may be required.

Other Benefits

• Co-ops will be paid $25hour /40-hours a week.
• Given top priority for future co-op rotations and full-time positions.
