Job summary

FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., is offering Engineering Co-Op positions for Summer 2027. The roles are on-site across a five-state footprint (OH, PA, WV, MD, NJ) with locations like Akron, Greensburg, Reading, Fairmont, and Morristown.

Pay range is $20.00-$30.00/hour. Selected candidates must be enrolled in a four-year ABET-accredited program (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Engineering Technology) with a minimum 2.5 GPA and the ability to relocate for rotations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college/university in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• ABET accreditation is preferred; alternatives include a BS in Engineering Technology.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better.
• Must be able to work on-site and relocate to the reporting location for the assignment.
• Eligibility to work without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers in developing or maintaining engineering programs, including procedures and analytics.
• Assist in engineering studies, analysis, and design for transmission planning and maintenance.
• Develop system models, protection specs and investigate relay events.
• Contribute to transmission line and substation design packages.
• Prepare summary reports and presentations documenting analysis, results, and recommendations.
• Work with Project Managers on projects in the transmission capital portfolio.
