Job summary

Bayer is seeking a KC Engineering Co-op for spring or fall 2027 to contribute to engineering projects within our Crop Science division in Kansas City, MO. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams, and real-world impact in process improvements.

You will engage in feasibility studies, design support, and adherence to safety standards while gaining mentorship from experienced engineers in a dynamic chemical plant setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (sophomore year or higher).
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Able to commute daily to Kansas City, MO site.
• Spring 2027 or Fall 2027 term availability.
• Willing to climb stairs and ladders; able to work in a dynamic chemical plant setting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to enhance chemical processes, improve yields, reduce waste, and cut cycle times.
• Help shape project objectives by analyzing stakeholder requirements and basic design packages.
• Ensure projects comply with engineering standards, Safety and Environmental regulations, and plant protocols.
• Work with facilities and reliability engineers on maintenance and reliability programs in chemical plants.
• Perform and verify engineering calculations using standard methods.
• Conduct cost, feasibility, and planning studies with data-driven recommendations.
• Team with production and technical staff for process troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Support the Operational Excellence program and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
