Job summary

Trane Technologies in Wisconsin seeks an Engineering Change Coordinator to manage and implement engineering changes, maintaining master data and ensuring production readiness. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing, supply chain, materials management, or engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding of engineering change processes and documentation.
  • Experience with PLM systems, ERP systems, and inventory control systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex changes simultaneously, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide technical leadership for assigned projects, including product improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to lead meetings, summarize decisions, and coordinate across departments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering change process from initiation to implementation including engineering change records, product lifecycle data, and bill of materials.
  • Review and analyze engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of engineering changes to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed records of all engineering changes and ensure intended changes are fully realized with maximum gains.
  • Enrich and maintain product data to ensure it is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams to gather and validate data.
  • Implement data enrichment processes and tools to improve data quality and accessibility.
  • Support PFEP and Material Classification programs.
  • Perform regular audits of engineering data to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement data maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Lead Phase-In / Phase-Out process to ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Monitor and manage Obsolete, Slow-Moving, and Inactive inventory.
  • Collaborate with production and inventory teams to minimize disruptions.
  • Execute standard work for inventory management and supplier relations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure material and information flow across the value stream.
  • Facilitate phase-in/phase-out projects related to design changes and product lifecycle management.
  • Support inventory planning and material flow planning goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in cross-functional projects.

Job Summary

The Engineering Change Coordinator (ECC) manages, coordinates, and implements engineering changes to ensure smooth production, quality, and operation continuity. The ECC serves as the primary owner for managing product changes, overseeing the process from initial request through production operations, and obsolescence.

The incumbent will work closely with engineering, quality, production, suppliers, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment of project scope, timing, and production readiness. The ECC maintains all master data, documentation, standard work, and communication plans.

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Change Management
  • Lead and manage the engineering change process from initiation to implementation including engineering change records, product lifecycle data, and bill of materials.
  • Review and analyze engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of engineering changes to all relevant stakeholders. Ensure all subordinate cross-functional activities are supported and properly implemented.
  • Maintain detailed records of all engineering changes and ensure intended changes are fully realized with maximum gains.
Data Enrichment And Master Data Management
  • Enrich and maintain product data to ensure it is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams to gather and validate data.
  • Implement data enrichment processes and tools to improve data quality and accessibility.
  • Support Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Material Classification programs.
  • Perform regular audits of engineering data to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement data maintenance procedures and best practices.
New Product Introduction / Inventory Control
  • Lead Phase-In / Phase-Out process to ensure supply chain continuity. Ensure planning parameters properly align with intended supply chain ramp-up and ramp-down of relevant inventory.
  • Monitor and manage OSMI (Obsolete, Slow-Moving, and Inactive) inventory. Identify and analyze inventory items and develop strategies to minimize obsolescence.
  • Collaborate with production management teams and inventory management teams to ensure transitions plans are fully executed to minimize disruptions.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual standard work processes to support rigorous inventory management, supplier relations, data management and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective material and information flow throughout the entire value stream.
  • Facilitates phase-in/phase-out projects associated with design changes, value-engineering, supplier sourcing changes and product lifecycle management.
  • Support inventory planning and material flow planning goals.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in engineering change management, data enrichment, and data maintenance.
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives and projects to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and update standard work as required.
