Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software is desired.
  • Familiarity with GIS or CAD tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned project tasks including updating project schedules and producing reports.
  • Assist in preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and visual aids.
  • Assist with field work such as groundwater and soil sampling, remediation system operations, site inspections.
  • Collect data and apply technical principles to analyze results.
  • Review contractor submittals for adherence to technical specifications.
  • Draft reports documenting results and presenting findings.
  • Miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis.

Under the direction of experienced engineers, our interns work on a variety of clearly defined assignments that require the application of standard design engineering techniques. These can include preparing civil engineering drawings, specifications, and estimates for design projects; working on construction projects and completing project tasks. The work builds technical skills in design calculations, reading and interpreting surveys, researching design options, writing technical reports, managing projects, basic CADD review and drafting, and communicating with members of teams. Key jo duties include:

  • Manage assigned project tasks including preparing and updating project schedules and producing reports related to projects. May interact with other professionals and teams on project matters, under guidance
  • Assist in preparing engineering related calculations, design drawings, specifications, and visual aids
  • Assist with field work (e.g., groundwater and soil sampling, remediation system operations, site inspections)
  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories to assist in interpreting and analyzing data
  • Review contractor submittals for adherence to technical specifications on construction projects
  • Compare investigation findings to relevant studies and provincial/federal regulations to assess compliance, draft reports documenting results and presenting findings; and
  • Miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis
Qualifications

Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
  • GIS and/or CAD skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills, good sense of professionalism
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly and both orally and in writing
