Job summary

The Engineer Apprentice position at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Chicago offers a hands-on start in building operations and facilities management. You will learn on the job, working with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems under supervision to develop core operating engineering skills.

You'll participate in preventive maintenance, document work, and support inventory and safety workflows while advancing toward professional credentials in a union environment with Local 399

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years of technical training through Local 399 or equivalent apprenticeship program.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with problem-solving ability.
• Physical capacity to lift at least 50 lbs and use ladders up to 12 feet.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Call-in availability and flexible scheduling.
• Strong teamwork and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with repair and maintenance of building equipment under supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance and monitor equipment performance.
• Complete maintenance tasks including painting, locksmith work and electrical repairs as directed.
• Maintain records of work and document maintenance activities.
• Manage inventory of tools and supplies and source materials.
• Follow safety policies for hazardous materials and maintain a clean work area.
• Learn compressed air systems and related components.
