Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC is seeking a Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead a team of maintenance and engineering professionals, ensuring equipment reliability and production performance. You will set priorities, manage assets, and drive safety and quality improvements.

You will advise on upgrades and long-term infrastructure investments, coordinate across departments, and contribute to strategic planning while developing staff and monitoring performance to meet department goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CMPRP or equivalent certification preferred.
• 5-7 years in maintenance and engineering resource management.
• Experience leading large teams and coordinating cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and engineering operations to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
• Direct engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff across shifts.

Maintenance & Engineering Manager

Manages a team of maintenance and engineering professionals responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Is accountable for team performance, equipment uptime, and the successful execution of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies. Adapts departmental priorities in response to operational needs, resource availability, and production demands. Makes decisions within defined policies and procedures and receives direction from senior leadership as needed. Provides hands‑on technical guidance to team members, cross‑functional partners, and external vendors.

Job Description

• Manages maintenance and engineering operations to support equipment availability, system reliability, and production performance across multiple work areas.
• Directs work flow of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, ensuring timely completion of preventive maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
• Coordinates processes and assignments related to work order prioritization, downtime response, and vendor support across shifts and functional departments.
• Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards through routine audits, inspections, and documentation control.
• Implements asset management strategies, including spare parts inventory control, reliability-centered maintenance planning, and equipment lifecycle analysis.
• Advises internal stakeholders on technical options for equipment upgrades, layout changes, and long-term infrastructure investments.
• Attends cross-functional meetings to align departmental goals with broader operational initiatives, facility expansions, or system upgrades.
• Hires, trains, and develops team members by supporting onboarding, skills development, and performance improvement plans.
• Evaluates performance of direct reports through regular coaching, annual reviews, and alignment of objectives with department priorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards
• Manages staff performance and development, coaching team members to achieve their full potential in contributing to the department’s goals.

Required Education & Experience

• Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
• Licenses/Certificates: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent
• Years of Experience: 5-7 Years
• Field of Expertise: Managing maintenance and engineering resources

Preferred Education & Experience

• Licenses/Certificates: Professional Engineer (PE) license Project Management Professional (PMP) OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification
• Years of Experience: 8-11 Years
• Field of Expertise: Managing maintenance and engineering resources, preferably large teams (> 40)
