Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry is seeking an engineering instructor to teach courses across programs, integrating theory with practical applications to support student learning and workforce readiness. Responsibilities include delivering lectures and labs, developing syllabi, assessing student progress, and maintaining records.

A master’s degree in engineering and unofficial transcripts are required; teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field; at least 18 graduate credit hours in engineering.
  • Unofficial transcripts required at time of application.
  • Preferred: prior college‑level teaching experience or engineering industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in engineering concepts through lectures, demonstrations, and applied learning activities.
  • Facilitate effective classroom and/or laboratory learning environments.
  • Develop and implement course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with course outcomes.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, projects, examinations, and other evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress in accordance with college policies.
  • Recommend textbooks, laboratory materials, and other instructional resources for engineering courses.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems to support teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic support units, such as tutoring and student success services, to promote student achievement.
  • Assist with the preparation of course-related documentation and reports as needed for program review, planning, or accreditation purposes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in engineering and related technologies.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities when possible.
  • Represent the College professionally in interactions with students, colleagues, and community partners.

Education

Master’s degree in Engineering or closely related field
Minimum 18 graduate credit hours in engineering or related discipline

Job Functions
