Job summary

Lamar University’s College of Engineering invites applications for an entry-level Academic Advisor. This role mentors undergraduates with 60+ hours, guiding them from enrollment through graduation and beyond.

You’ll coordinate with senior advisors and use Banner, Navigate and DegreeWorks to track progress and support success. Strong communication, dependable service, and teamwork are essential as you develop academic plans, monitor milestones, and engage students in resources to ensure timely

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.
At least 1 year of experience in academic advising or related experience.
Official transcripts are required at the time of employment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including active listening.
Ability to work in a team and deliver professional customer service.

Responsibilities

Holistically assist students through the matriculation cycle and degree completion.
Use advising systems (Banner, Navigate, DegreeWorks) to maintain records.
Develop and implement academic plans and progress reviews for students.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.
Lead re-engagement efforts and assist with end-of-term processes.
