Job summary

Super Fab Lab @ UNC-C is seeking an Academic Advisor to support undergraduate and graduate students in multiple engineering technology programs. The role involves applying a developmental advising model, guiding students through graduation planning, and connecting them with campus support services.

The advisor will conduct one-on-one and group sessions, participate in orientations and events, and collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student success.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in academic advising, student services, higher education, engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Two years of experience involving student academic advising in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Ability to interact effectively with advisees, staff, and faculty is required.
  • Proficient use of computers (Google Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Serve undergraduate and graduate students within Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, and Applied Energy programs.
  • Provide orientation to new students, support for first-generation and transfer students, and at-risk student interventions.
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide additional information/services/programming to majors.
  • Generate reports on academic progression and graduation-oriented advising; assist with degree clearance.
