Job summary

Gold Fields is seeking a Ventilation Officer for our Agnew Gold Mine. You will optimise ventilation from long-term to monthly horizons, coordinating with mining teams and contractors to support production, safety and strategic goals.

The role requires a Bachelor of Engineering and WHS risk management qualifications, plus experience with DESWIK CAD and Ventsim Design. A manual driver's licence and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised tertiary degree in engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Completion of WHS risk management units and relevant legislation exam.

Responsibilities

• Drive ventilation planning across LOM, quarterly, weekly and monthly horizons to support production, safety and mine strategy.
• Lead clear ventilation coordination by defining constraints, issuing instructions, and guiding mining teams and contractors.
• Support continuous improvement and project delivery through ventilation projects and capital planning.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory obligations for ventilation planning and reporting.
• Carry out the legislated duties of the Ventilation Officer under WA legislation.

Job description

• 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth

The Opportunity

You will work closely with a diverse team, reporting to the Mine Ventilation Superintendent to optimise ventilation demand and supply to support efficient gold extraction and maximise business value for our Underground Mining Team at Agnew Gold Mine.

What You’ll Do

• Drive ventilation planning across LOM, quarterly, weekly and monthly horizons to support production, safety and long-term mine strategy, ensuring all statutory requirements and records are accurately maintained.
• Lead clear ventilation coordination and communication by defining constraints, issuing instructions, and providing direction to mining teams, underground personnel, contractors and graduates.
• Support continuous improvement and project delivery through involvement in ventilation projects, capital infrastructure planning, and monitoring of ventilation system performance.
• Ensure that all statutory responsibilities and obligations are fulfilled in a timely manner and that accurate and up to date record keeping is maintained and communicated to underground personnel to ensure that short and long term planning of the ventilation circuit with mine development and needs of the mine
• Carry out the legislated duties of the Ventilation Officer under WA legislation.

What You’ll Bring

• Recognised Tertiary Degree in Bachelor of Engineering, or hold the full qualifications to be appointed under Schedule 26 of the Work Health and Safety regulations 2022
• A manual driver’s licence.
• Completion of all required WHS risk management units as well as the required legislation examination
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, and mining software such as Deswik CAD with experience with Ventsim Design would be highly regarded.
