Job summary

Bowman Consulting is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer V to lead the electrical engineering department in Houston, TX. In this critical role, you'll manage a team focused on designing and implementing advanced electrical systems while ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years of relevant experience and preferably hold Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Electrical Engineer V (Oil & Gas)

Location: Houston, TX.

Purpose

Hold the most senior position in the electrical engineering department. Lead and manage the electrical engineering team, oversee the design and implementation of electrical systems, and provide technical expertise and guidance. Involve strategic planning, project coordination, stakeholder management, and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform equipment sizing and selection, alternative analyses and other deliverables.
  • Support the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities.
  • Present engineering and design deliverables to project members, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan, forecast, and actualize deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule requirements.
  • Identify scope changes and estimate impact to effort and schedule.
  • Support proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, identifying list of deliverables and estimating effort required.
  • Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
  • Works autonomously.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves electrical equipment, conduit, and wiring calculations, requisitions, lists, studies, reports, BOMs, and designs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.

  • Ability to develop and implement electrical engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills – written and verbal.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Partially indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over several hours.
