Job summary

Avangrid is seeking an Engineer - Transmission Planning in Augusta, ME, an in‑office role to support planning and reliability of the regional transmission system. You will model, analyze, and coordinate with NPCC, ISO‑NE, and regulators to help deliver compliant transmission designs.

You will conduct power flow, short‑circuit, and stability analyses using PSSE/TARA/ASPEN/PSCAD, develop technical standards, and support team mentoring.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of related experience, or 1 year with MS.
• Experience with power system studies and planning tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform reliability studies including power flow, short circuit, stability, and EMT assessments.
• Analyze and document transmission system performance and make recommendations.
• Coordinate with teams and participate in site inspections and industry meetings.

The role requires experience associated with modeling, analyzing, and planning level designs of transmission lines and substation facilities in an electrical power system. Key responsibilities include performing steady state power flow analysis, short circuit studies, transient stability analysis and electromagnetic transient studies. The role includes responsibilities to develop and promote technical standards and represent the company regarding transmission planning matters at NPCC, NERC, NEPOOL, ISO-NE and MPUC. ***Key Responsibilities**** Collaborate, perform, and lead reliability studies including power flow (thermal and voltage) analysis, transfer limit, short circuit, stability, and electromagnetic transient assessments.* Analyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels.
