Job summary

The Saint Paul Hotel in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a maintenance team member to support the engineering group with grounds and building upkeep, routine maintenance, and minor repairs. This is a full-time, on-site role with weekend and holiday shifts required.

You'll assist the gardener, operate lawn and snow equipment, handle guest assistance tasks, and perform minor repairs while maintaining safety standards and proper documentation.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years related maintenance experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of electricity, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance.
• Have a valid driver’s license and meet company and insurer’s driving requirements.
• Able to work any day, evening, or weekend shifts as scheduled.
• The employee must move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required including close, color, peripheral, depth and focus.

Responsibilities

• Effectively and efficiently completes assigned work orders and guest room punch checklists within time frames and to hotel standards.
• Cleans and organizes work area and dock area daily; safely operates and stores department tools and equipment.
• Routine inspection and maintenance of hotel vehicles, including vehicle cleaning and par levels of fluids and tire pressure.
• Assists Gardener with flowers, trees, shrubs, mulch and soil, trimming trees, installing and removing outdoor lighting and decorations.
• Operates equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, tiller, lift and snow removal equipment; suggest repairs as needed.
• Assists guests and employees, including adjusting room temperatures, vehicle service, and moving furniture.
• Accurately makes keys as requested by hotel management; runs errands using company vehicles; secures and drives banquet trucks as needed.
• Complies with safety regulations and rooftop safety policies; completes other duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: The Saint Paul Hotel - Saint Paul, MN 55102, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: None, Salary Range: $22.29 - $22.29 Hourly, Job Shift: Varies, includes Weekends & Holidays, Job Category: Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, Under general supervision, this position supports the engineering team, performing beginning to intermediate level work cleaning and maintaining grounds and building, including routine maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, snow and ice removal, and general upkeep.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Effectively and efficiently completes assigned work orders and guest room punch checklists. within allocated time frames and to hotel standards.
• Cleans and organizes work area and dock area daily. Safely operates, maintains, and stores department tools and equipment.
• Routine inspection and maintenance of hotel vehicles, including vehicle cleaning and maintaining par levels of fluids and tire pressure.
• Assists Gardener as needed with various duties including flowers, trees, shrubs, bulbs, mulch and soil, trimming trees, installing and removing outdoor lighting and decorations.
• Safely and effectively operates equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, tiller, lift, and snow removal equipment, making suggestions for repair.
• Assists guests and employees as needed, including adjusting room temperatures, vehicle service (e.g., dead battery, flat tire, locked out), and moving furniture and equipment.
• Accurately and efficiently makes keys as requested by hotel management.
• Run errands as needed, driving company vehicles, to drop off and pick up items such as supplies, equipment, and furnishings. Secure and drive banquet trucks as needed and assigned.
• Complies with local, state, and national regulations pertaining to safety and security procedures, including rooftop safety policies and procedures.
• Completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. 1-2 years related maintenance experience and/or training.
2. Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance.
3. Have a valid driver’s license and meet company and insurer’s driving requirements.
4. Able to work any day, evening, or weekend shifts as scheduled.
5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to position self to move about.
6. The employee frequently is required to operate and use tools, equipment, and chemicals; and communicate with employees and management.
7. The employee must move up to 50 pounds regularly.
8. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
