Position Overview
The Test Team is responsible for testing market-specific Infotainment and Connect systems and services in North America, covering test activities throughout the development process of vehicle models and services. The Engineer Test-Infrastructure Infotainment & Connect ensures timely resolution of topics related to their field of test infrastructure. This role also acts as the technical expert for Porsche Engineering Services US concerning all current and upcoming Porsche models within the market, requiring staying updated on the latest technology in development and validation within Porsche AG.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide ready-to-use test infrastructure by setting up, updating, and maintaining test systems (e.g., Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, test benches, test cars) in collaboration with the Coordinator Test-Infrastructure Infotainment & Connect, based on Porsche test plans.
- Commissioning of HiL systems and test benches based on wiring layouts, PIN definitions, bus topologies, infrastructure design, and test data configurations.
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, software flashing, and coding using tools like Vector CANape, CANoe, and other data acquisition tools.
- Collaborate with international teams, including test infrastructure, integration, commissioning, function development, suppliers, and backend development, to share information and improve processes.
- Support Test Drive, Endurance, and Quality Engineering Teams with pressing topics.
- Analyze requirement documents and technical specifications to improve and adapt test infrastructure.
- Participate in the commissioning helpdesk for North America, supporting activities such as test tours and validation trials, which may require extended travel.
- Record test infrastructure hardware and software information in systems like Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Three to four-year engineering or technical degree in automotive sciences or technologies.
- Two years of relevant work experience, including internships.
- Graduate studies in Automotive Engineering can count towards experience.
- Experience with automotive systems and diagnostic tools.
- Experience setting up and commissioning HiL systems and test benches.
- Knowledge of vehicle bus systems (CAN, OABR, Flexray) and communication protocols.
- Proficiency in data analysis and engineering evaluations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Engineering.
- Experience with vehicle onboard diagnosis (OBD/DoIP), flashing, and ECU coding.
- Knowledge of vehicle topology and residual bus simulation.
- Understanding of SIM card provisioning and mobile network operations.
- Technical insight into web-based services (TLS/SSL, SOAP, RESTful/JSON) and tools like POSTMAN and SOAPUI.
- German language and culture experience is a plus.
- Traits: persistent, organized, adaptable, process-oriented, team player.
- ISTQB certification is beneficial.
Percentage of required travel: <15% (domestic and European trips).
Schedule: 5:30 or 6:00 am to afternoon.
Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually, dependent on location, education, experience, and skills.
