Job summary

Polk County, Oregon seeks a skilled engineering/ surveying technician to perform lead work in analysis, design, construction and operation of public works projects. You will supervise lower level technicians and provide technical guidance, with responsibilities expanding across multiple specialty areas.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in engineering or surveying technology and four years of relevant experience, with a preferred Engineer-in-Training or Land Surveyor in Training

Performs sub professional, complex technical field and office work in analysis, design, construction and operation of public works projects Work involves being a lead worker directing the activities of lower level technicians and part-time, seasonal or temporary employees and providing technical advice and instruction. May perform any task of lower level classes in this job series in the same or other specialty area. Distinguished from Engineer-Survey Technician II by broader responsibilities, more difficult assignments, and lead work over other employees.

Brief Description

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in engineering or surveying technology and four (4) years engineering or surveying experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Special Qualifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license and automobile insurance.
Possession of an Engineer in Training or Land Surveyor in Training certification is preferred.

Paid Leave

Vacation: New full-time employees generally earn 12 vacation days per year; this increases with years of service. Part-time employees earn a pro-rated amount.
Holidays: A generous number of paid holidays annually. This will vary according to bargaining unit.
Personal Leave Days: These are floating holidays. The number of Personal Leave Days varies according to bargaining unit.
Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (pro-rated for part time) with no maximum accrual.
Other Leaves: Jury duty, bereavement, military.
