The Engineer works under the direction of the Manager, Strategic Planning & Engineering, takes ownership of assigned workstreams, and is expected to grow toward broader responsibility over time. Responsibilities include:

  • Support maintenance and enhancement of the corporate NAV and planning model, integrating technical, operational, commercial, and financial assumptions while ensuring data quality, consistency, and transparency.
  • Develop production forecasts for unconventional wells, development scenarios, and economic evaluations to support corporate planning, capital allocation, budgeting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Evaluate development opportunities and strategic alternatives through economic, sensitivity, and uncertainty analyses to assess impacts on production, free cash flow, capital efficiency, inventory, returns, and long-term value.
  • Support evaluation of capital investment decisions by comparing competing opportunities and identifying associated risks, tradeoffs, and value drivers.
  • Provide technical and economic support for acquisition, divestiture, joint venture, infrastructure, and other corporate development evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Subsurface, Asset Development, Marketing, Land, Accounting, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of planning assumptions and evaluation methodologies.
  • Prepare analyses, presentations, and recommendations for Strategy Meetings, senior management, Board materials, and other decision-support activities.
  • Support Investor Relations activities through peer benchmarking, market analysis, earnings support materials, and other external performance analyses as required.
  • Review forecasts and planning assumptions with a questioning mindset, identify risks, uncertainties, opportunities, and inconsistencies, and communicate findings effectively to management.
  • Develop and maintain planning databases, analytical tools, dashboards, and reporting solutions, and apply data analytics, visualization, automation, and scripting to streamline workflows and improve forecasting accuracy and planning efficiency.
  • Support the development and maintenance of planning standards, methodologies, documentation, governance processes, and quality-control procedures.
Job Qualifications

  • Solid working knowledge of upstream oil and gas development planning, reservoir engineering, production forecasting, economic evaluation, and capital planning.
  • Working knowledge of economic and analytical modeling, including discounted cash flow analysis, valuation, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty evaluation.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to integrate technical, operational, commercial, and financial information into clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of the relationship between asset-level decisions and corporate performance metrics, including production, free cash flow, capital efficiency, inventory sustainability, returns, and value creation, or the ability to learn this quickly.
  • Good verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and economic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across functional disciplines and to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
