Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking an innovative transportation professional to serve as an Engineer Specialist on the Traffic Engineering and Safety team. You will lead a high-performing group focused on TES programmatic safety projects, Area Engineering, Pedestrian Crossing, and Transit programs, championing Vision Zero and Safe Systems.

• Provide technical, operational, and strategic direction for traffic engineering analyses, planning efforts, design documents, and project implementation.
• Lead and supervise a team responsible for the design of transportation and traffic safety projects and programs, including workload, performance, development, and resource allocation.
• Provide quality assurance and technical oversight of engineering designs, construction documents, and consultant deliverables.
• Manage and coordinate consultants, contractors, internal departments, utilities, regional agencies, and other project stakeholders.
• Develop and implement engineering standards, policies, procedures, and process improvements to improve project delivery and operational efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with DOTI's Vision Zero team to implement Vision Zero and Safe Systems projects, including systemic safety programs and data-driven risk mitigation.
• Improve system operations through enhanced signal timing strategies, congestion mitigation, and multimodal performance optimization.
• Analyze project and program data to establish performance measures, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Represent the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure on its transportation programs and projects, including coordination with stakeholders.

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site in the field, as needed . Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their remote days .

DOTI is seeking an innovative and experienced transportation professional to serve as a Specialist on the Traffic Engineering and Safety (TES) team - a high-performing team responsible for ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of Denver's transportation system. TES includes two main work areas - 1) r eview & r e gulat e; and 2) p rogrammatic s afety p rojects . This position will primarily focus on managing a team around TES's programmatic s afety project work - including work on Area Engineering, Pedestrian Crossing, Traffic Calming, Traffic Signal (corridor retiming), Bikeways, and Tr ansit pro grams . This position will champion Vision Zero and the Safe Systems approach, bringing both deep technical expertise and proven management skills to foster innovation and sound project process , and support staff's growth and development.
