Job summary

Egis is seeking an experienced Engineer, Signaling to join our Sacramento, CA office. You will deliver signaling solutions for complex transportation projects, coordinating with cross‑disciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure design, testing, and commissioning meet safety and operational goals.

The role requires a PE or eligibility, a bachelor’s in electrical or systems engineering, and 10+ years in railway signaling. You’ll work on ETCS/ERTMS, CBTC and related train control technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Systems engineering.
• PE license or ability to obtain licensure.
• 10+ years in railway signaling or rail systems engineering.
• Experience delivering signaling through design, testing, commissioning.
• Experience with ETCS/ERTMS/CBTC/PTC/ATO.
• Knowledge of safety-critical transportation standards.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

Job Description

We are looking for a Engineer, Signaling in our Sacramento, CA office.

This individual will play a key role in delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects by developing technical solutions, coordinating system interfaces, and supporting project delivery through implementation and operational readiness.

The Impact You’ll Make (Job Responsibilities)

• Develop, review, and approve signaling engineering deliverables throughout design, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Support requirements management, system architecture development, and interface coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Review supplier and contractor designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and operational needs.
• Provide technical oversight for digital signaling and train control systems, including interlockings, traffic management, train detection, communications, and automation technologies.
• Prepare and review documentation supporting safety, regulatory, and operational approvals.
• Develop and support testing, commissioning, system integration, defect resolution, and final acceptance activities.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, operators, consultants, and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery and system handover.

Qualifications

The Expertise You’ll Bring (Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure.
• 10+ years of experience in railway signaling, train control, or rail systems engineering.
• Proven experience delivering signaling systems through design, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational acceptance.
• Experience with ETCS, ERTMS, CBTC, PTC, ATP, ATO, or similar signaling and train control technologies.
• Strong understanding of systems integration, safety‑critical transportation systems, railway communications, and industry standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical deliverables, support regulatory and safety approvals, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors on complex infrastructure projects.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we've included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.

Anticipated Base Salary Range: $160,000 – $240,000 annually.
