Job summary

Egis in the U.S. is seeking an Engineer, Traction Power in our Sacramento, CA office.

The role provides technical leadership from design through energization and handover, focusing on traction power, substations, MV distribution, and interfaces with utilities and signaling. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a PE license, and 6+ years of related experience delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 6+ years of experience in power systems, electrical infrastructure, utility, MV, transportation, or industrial projects.
• Experience delivering electrical systems through design, construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and acceptance.
• Experience with substations, MV distribution, utility interconnections, protective relays, SCADA, and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee traction power, MV, and auxiliary power systems through design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Coordinate requirements management, technical reviews, engineering studies, and design development with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review technical deliverables, calculations, specs, equipment selections, submittals, and construction docs for compliance with standards.
• Coordinate interfaces between power systems, utilities, SCADA, signaling, and facilities with stakeholders.
• Support utility coordination, permitting, interconnection, and regulatory documentation.
• Provide engineering support during construction, energization, testing, commissioning, and issue resolution.
• Participate in system integration, readiness, defect resolution, and turnover of electrical infrastructure.

Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer, Traction Power in our Sacramento, CA office.

This role will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from design and construction through energization, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.

The ideal candidate will have experience with power systems, substations, medium-voltage distribution, utility coordination, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

The Impact You’ll Make

• Develop, review, and provide technical oversight for traction power, medium-voltage, and auxiliary power systems throughout design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
• Support requirements management, technical reviews, engineering studies, design development, and coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, equipment selections, contractor submittals, and construction documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between power systems, utilities, SCADA, communications, signaling, facilities, operations, and other project stakeholders.
• Support utility coordination, permitting, regulatory approvals, interconnection activities, and compliance-related documentation.
• Provide engineering support during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, energization, and field issue resolution activities.
• Participate in system integration, operational readiness, defect resolution, final acceptance, and turnover of electrical infrastructure systems.

Qualifications

The Expertise You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 6+ years of experience supporting power systems, electrical infrastructure, utility, medium-voltage, transportation, or industrial projects.
• Experience delivering electrical systems through design, construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and operational acceptance.
• Experience with substations, medium-voltage distribution systems, utility interconnections, protective relays, SCADA systems, power monitoring systems, or related electrical infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of power system integration, utility coordination, engineering design, and multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and review technical deliverables, coordinate contractors and stakeholders, and support construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities on complex infrastructure projects.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we've included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.

Anticipated Base Salary Range: $160,000 – $240,000 annually.
