Job summary

Triumph Group engineers a culture of quality across aerospace manufacturing sites in the United States. This role focuses on robust quality systems, APQP development for new programs, and cross-functional leadership to ensure customer specifications and regulatory standards are met.

The candidate will analyze data, lead RCCA/MRB efforts, and drive Lean and Six Sigma improvements while maintaining key performance metrics and effective communication with customers and program managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering in a similar environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Quality Engineer role in aerospace or complex manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading; ability to analyze data for decision making.
  • Quality experience working directly with customers; familiar with DMAIC and 8D problem solving, SPC.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quality control and quality systems knowledge to meet internal, customer, regulatory, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams to ensure quality products.
  • Lead RCCAs and MRB submissions and develop APQP for new programs (FAIR/PPAP/PFMEA/Control Plan).
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions to Program Managers, Customers, and Leadership.
  • Coordinate process improvements, cost reduction, and defect reduction projects.
  • Utilize Lean, process validation, and Six Sigma problem solving.
  • Maintain, analyze, and distribute Quality Metrics/KPIs.
  • Lead customer investigations and failure analyses as required.

Responsibilities
  • Applies a strong knowledge of quality control and quality systems in developing and improving those aspects to ensure that the business meets internal, customer, regulatory, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Daily collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, manufacturing, and inspection to ensure quality products are delivered to our customers.
  • Understand and analyze complex problems, and act as the facilitator for leading cross functional teams for customer required RCCAs and MRB submissions
  • Develop APQP (FAIR/PPAP/PFMEA/Control Plan) in support of new program launches and develop inspection plans to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
  • Effectively communicate technical issues, solutions, and ideas to a diverse audience including Program Managers, Customers, and Leadership.
  • Coordinate/lead process improvements, cost reduction and/or defect reduction projects.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as Process Validation and Six Sigma Problem Solving skills.
  • Maintain, analyze, and distribute required Quality Metrics/KPIs
  • Leads/facilitates Customer requested investigations & failure analysis reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent technical field
  • Or
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering in a similar and/or related industrial environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Quality Engineer role in an aerospace company or complex manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of GD&T and its principles, proficient in blue-print reading
  • Ability to analyze data to use in sound decision making
  • Quality experience working directly with customers
  • Familiarization/experience in the following methodologies is preferred:
  • DMAIC and 8 Disciplines (8D) problem solving
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Rev D and FAA requirements highly preferred
  • Internal audit training/experience and statistical analysis experience highly preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred
  • Six Sigma and Lean experience preferred.
