Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly motivated thermal/structural analyst (CFD focus) to support propulsion systems in a fast-paced environment. You will perform FEA/CFD analyses (Abaqus/Fluent), assess results, and provide design guidance on advanced materials. Collaboration with internal/external customers is essential.

Level 1 requires a BS and 0+ years; Level 2 requires 2+ years with BS or 0+ with MS. On-site at Rocket Center, WV with limited travel.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

NGDS – ABL is seeking a highly motivated thermal/structural analyst (primarily focused in CFD) to work in the exciting and challenging world of tactical propulsion. Position duties center on the use of finite element analysis as applied to mechanics and heat transfer in evaluating rocket motors and other defense and aerospace systems. Experience with solid rocket motors, composite structures, and gas or structural dynamics is highly desirable.

This position will be located at on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote work is available for this position.

Specific Responsibilities Include

• Analysis model formulation and FEA or CFD solution using Abaqus or Fluent
• Providing technical assessments of results and giving design guidance with specialized knowledge of mechanics of materials for orthotropic, hyperelastic, and visocelastic materials
• Reporting of analysis results in written and oral formats
• Peer reviewing of other analysts work products, including efforts at other corporate business locations
• Interfacing with internal/external customers and with support personnel in design and testing
• Travel is typically required less than once a year

Basic Qualifications For a Level 1

• BS in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering, or Science
• Experience:
  • 0+ years of related work experience with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering, or Science (prior experience is preferred)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment as part of a multi-discipline team

• Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment as part of a multi-discipline team
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.

Experience Preferred

• Advanced knowledge of CFD (Ansys Fluent)
• Advanced knowledge of steady state and transient dynamic analysis
• Advanced knowledge of viscoelastic and hyperelastic material modeling
• Advanced knowledge of thermal heat transfer analysis
• Proficiency with Siemens NX
• Script writing, workflow automation
• Constitutive model development and implementation
• Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing facility

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
