Ideal candidates have 15+ years in AEC engineering, a track record on public projects, and are adept at client-facing presentations and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 15+ years experience in the field of AEC Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with clients as strategic advisor and primary contact.
  • Understand client objectives and deliver tailored engineering solutions balancing technical and business goals.
  • Anticipate client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional value and expand services.
  • Collaborate with clients to translate challenges into practical, innovative engineering solutions.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and project discussions to communicate vision, progress, and recommendations.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to align project execution with client expectations and business goals.
  • Support business development by contributing to pursuits, proposals, and client engagement strategies.

Position Summary

The role as an AEC Project Development Engineer serves as a trusted advisor to clients, building relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping turn project goals into successful outcomes. Through strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills, this individual collaborates with clients and design teams to develop solutions that address complex challenges and create lasting value.

Experience on large and complex projects a must, preferably on public projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with clients by serving as a strategic advisor and primary point of contact.
  • Understand client objectives, operational challenges, and organizational priorities to deliver tailored engineering solutions.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to provide additional value, expand services, and strengthen partnerships.
  • Collaborate with clients to evaluate challenges and translate business needs into practical, innovative engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance that balances engineering requirements with operational, financial, and business objectives.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and project discussions to effectively communicate project vision, progress, and recommendations.
  • Present complex engineering concepts in a clear, concise manner to executive leadership, public agencies, and other non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams to align project execution with client expectations and business goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities by recognizing emerging client needs, market trends, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of public-sector funding sources, procurement processes, and market conditions to support business development efforts.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to project pursuits, proposal development, client engagement strategies, and relationship management initiatives.
