Job DescriptionPosition: Engineering/Manufacturing Process TechnicianJob SummaryThe Process Technician is a member of Boyd’s process engineering team that focuses on safety and optimizing manufacturing workflows. The primary responsibility of this position is to support manufacturing workflows through continuous improvement activities, issue troubleshooting and resolution, and facilitating communication between the process engineering team and the operations teams.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesInvestigate process improvement activities related to efficiency gains and defect reductions.Respond to all requests for engineering support at all manufacturing work centers as neededGather information for equipment maintenance, equipment history, capacity analysis, and process improvement.Develop and evaluate manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost/scrap analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.Support lean manufacturing initiatives by participating in events, assisting wherever possible, and following up to ensure that gains are maintained.Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production issues, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.Drive Kaizen initiatives by working with teams to identify, implement, track, and report.Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives.Perform other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsAssociate or bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field or equivalent level of courseworkSelf-motivated and driven individual who takes ownership in the areas of responsibilityKnowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques as well as CAD and Blueprint readingProficient with MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and use of a PC.Preferred Skills and ExperienceStrong attention to detail with a focus on quality at all times.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Good analytical and decision-making skillsStrong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work based on business needs.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environmentAbility to work under time constraints with changing priorities under minimal supervision.Must be able to follow directions and work in a team environment.Knowledge of common techniques for material handlingPrevious manufacturing experiencePhysical RequirementsStanding and walking for long shiftsAbility to lift loads up to 25 lbs.Ability to reach overhead and forward when troubleshooting equipmentCompany OverviewBoyd is the world’s leading innovator in sustainable engineered material and thermal solutions that make our customers’ products better, safer, faster, and more reliable.
