Job Description Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in our Lancaster, PA location.

SUMMARY Leads projects for production including but not limited to developing, improving, transitioning, proving out and executing projects by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Product transitions: Lead transitions from engineering to production using standard operating procedures. Should also be able to lead the engineering team in their faceted discipline.
  • Process/Product improvements: Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. General understanding of manufacturing efficiency (Lean practices) to be able to analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Capex: Leads capital expenditure efforts for the engineering department and plant. Shows an understanding of the relationship with expenditures and returns on investments.
  • Solid Modeling: Design fixturing and tooling with an approved solid modeling program and creating properly dimensioned drawings to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards (ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994).
  • Technical Writing: Capable of writing technical reports, proposals, journal papers, and technical articles with minimal review. Possessing good writing skills is an important capability at this level.
  • Presentation Skills: Capable of independently preparing and presenting technical and company background presentations and briefings. Command of professional oral and presentation skills is an important capability at this level.
  • Sales Support: Supports sales through proposal writing, conducting analysis, and generating solutions to customer’s requirements, preparing datasheets, customer visits and preparing cost/bid support information.
  • “Hands On” Related Duties Most of BOYD THERMAL BY EATON's work involves the support of production through designing, fabrication and testing of complex prototype hardware, fixtures, and assemblies. As a result, BOYD THERMAL BY EATON encourages “Hands‑on” engineering activity. As a result, an engineer should be able to perform as well as direct other engineers, technicians, production associates in the fabrication, test and delivery of hardware, fixtures, and assemblies. This “Hands‑on” experience is a valuable learning step as the engineer’s career progresses.
  • This work involves: Machining Brazing (torch and atmosphere furnaces) Welding Operation of furnaces Assembly work Test setup and testing using developed plans and experimental test programs and fabrication procedures. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Minor electrical work 8.
  • Project Management: 8.1 Delivery Schedules: Ensures that customer deliveries are met on time. Deliverables include hardware, reports, technical date, proposals, etc. If dates are in jeopardy of falling behind (i.e. not On-Time), notifies Sr. Management immediately to ensure resources are properly applied to project and schedule is restored. 8.2 Quality: Ensures production units fabricated under their control meet customer and BOYD THERMAL BY EATON’s quality specifications/expectations. When necessary, this should be coordinated with BOYD THERMAL BY EATON’s Quality Department. 8.3 Customer Communication: Ensures that the customer is notified of any technical or delivery changes/problems immediately upon discovery. Any communication to the customer shall be coordinated with the proper Regional Sales Manager. 8.4 Financial: Responsible for ensuring each project they are personally responsible for meets the targeted cost budget. 8.5 Intellectual Property: Actively maintains control of company related intellectual property, trade secrets and patents. Assures that all new inventions are documented in an Invention Disclosure, IDI, Form and submitted to the patent committee. 8.6 Hosted Customer Visits: Orders Lunches in advance of the customer meetings and prepares the food table the day of the meeting. This includes preparing the Coffee Station in the conference room. Stocks and maintains the drinks in the refrigerator. Stocks eating utensils, plates, napkins, etc. 8.7 Supplier Communication: Ensures that the supplier timeline reflects internal timeline requirements. Responsible for maintaining supplier communication and holding weekly / monthly meetings with supplier.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering with 5-10 or more years’ experience.

Language Skills

Has the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, engineering staff, customers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Work Area Cleanliness

The cubicle area is to be neatly organized and maintained by the owner. There shall be no material that is visible above the top of the cubicle wall. No material is to be stacked on the floor or in corners. In addition, your cubicle area shall not be a project material inventory location. Desk top and table tops shall be neat and orderly and absent of stacks of papers, literature, magazines and books.
